Put another way, Christian-justified homophobia really comes down to a mistaken (in my opinion) view of the Bible as a big rulebook. They don't ask why, they just hunt for rules about social life from a document written by members of a totally different society thousands of years ago. The Bible's value is not as a book of social practices. It is a spiritual and reflective document. The sense of Jesus I get from that text is someone who would be dismayed with modern-day Pharisees.

People are free to say what they want. If they want to tell someone their sexual orientation is somehow morally wrong, that's within the bounds of the law. That doesn't mean they're not being a jerk or disguising their discomfort as righteousness, though. You know, if we're going on the offhand references that fundies base this on, we should probably start advocating against female preachers, too. Paul condemns those. Missing the forest for the trees.

Romans 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. If you come out of the closet saying that you are gay, how can you say we are judging you? There are references in the Bible that declare homosexuality as a disgrace. Homosexuality is a stumblingblock in a brother's way to God. Christians aren't judging. We're trying to help out of love. Forgive us of our impatience and frustration.

I think you are misunderstanding the situation. This is a parody by an Australian comedy group called the Chaser, none of whom are christians as far as I know. They certainly aren't fundies anyway. This is poking fun at christians for being so self-righteous, and not gays. They also did a parody called "gay scientists isolate christian gene".
