cod5 since you've never played the other mgs games. mgs is a much better game but only if you've played the previous games first

to people buying this game as a first game i would suggest against it. this is an awesome game but you would need to play the previous ones to actually understand anything. plus the gameplay is very technical and make take a long time to get used to if u havent played the previous ones.

Then get CoD 5, MGS4 is relays heavily in story, you might not get some inside jokes or the story at all (because this series have a great sense of humor) |
