Wow. As I listen to the end of this song I realize something:
ST:TNG was one of the few shows where a good number of the best episodes where in the final season.
During its original run this was one of the best shows on TV.

Actually, it's because the standard contract in Hollywood for a television series is for 7 years. It can run longer if actors resign, or shorter if the series is cancelled. In TNG's case, the actors all decided to do only the seven years and then move the series into the movie theatres.

Oh. To me, "gave up on" means they decided not to write any more episodes. "cancelled" means forced not to write any more episodes, because hardly anyone would watch them. |
