A great musician and a great tune, but not this musician's greatest ever performance - he sounds (and looks to me) a bit uninspired. Having said that, he's still my favourite jazz musician ever and it's worth just being able to watch him. I wish I were in that club, having a cigarette and a cold beer, listening...

If you ever listened to Round Midnight by Eric Dolphy, you will know what this song really means! It is on EZZ-THETICS by George Russell (another giant)-maybe not on sale. This might be one of the most underrated recordings ever. But with the deepest feelings a musician can bring to you. Just listen.

I'm glad this is out on dvd now. Bud was a great man and a great musician. He will live forever. Wonderful performance.

Listen to Bud's EARLY playing, before the cops bashed his head in, before the shock tx's. NO ONE could/can touch his TECHNIQUE/SOUL, in his early period. Chick, Herbie, Jarret, Cecil,McCoy,Evans, Muhal,etc, all studied Bud. Bud laid the foundation. PERIOD.

I wouldn't say he was 'gone' but I would assume it is hard to play jazz after being in an institution and being given shock treatments by people that had no idea what the heck they were doing... so sad. They did that to Bird too.
