Solitaire: There was a man, a lonely man, who lost his love through his indifference. A heart that kept, that went unchecked, until it died within his silence. And Solitaire's the only game in town, and every road that takes him down. And by himself, it's easy to pretend, he'll never love again. And keeping to himself he plays the game, without her love it always ends the same. While life goes on around him everywhere, he's playing Solitaire. A little hope goes up in smoke, just how it goes, goes without saying. There was a man, a lonely man, who would command the hand he's playing. (chorus) And Solitaire's the only game in town, and every road that takes him down. While life goes on around him everywhere, he's playing Solitaire. Only Yesterday: After long enough of being alone, Ev'ryone must face their share of loneliness. In my own time nobody knew the pain I was goin' thru, And watin' was all my heart could do. Hope was all I had until you came, Maybe you can't see how much you mean to me. You were the dawn breaking the night The promise of morning light. Filling the world surrounding me Baby, baby, your love's made me free as a song, singin' for ever. (chorus) Only yesterday when I was sad and I was lonely, You showed me the way to leave the past and all it's tears behind me. Tomorrow maybe even brighter than today since I threw my sadness away. Only yesterday

this song is very well song by Karen and has feeling, but the carpenters weren't the original artists. The original was done by Neil Sedaka.

When Karen Carpenter hit those low notes, the radio or the player would actually vibrate. She did that like no other singer.

Thanks for posting these songs and your video. These are two of Karen's best singing masterpieces.

Oh, how magic she was...enchanted so many of us and could not be happy. So sad. Ever in our hearts.
