its a story based off certain aspects->it points many out, like Poseidon, the sheriff, or the cyclops, Big Dan....and yes, Ulysses is Latin for Odysseus.

Odysseus only fell into one REAL trap, the rest he got into because of his "one" flaw-his curiosity. though if you read the Odyssey, its easy to tell he has many, along with numerous heroic traits.
