artistic statement? please.. it's just a couple of nerds who happen to like coltrane, built a machine. the robot is cool. no question. though, you said it sounds great, i disagreed, you said it has really good time, just not in jazz, i say that this robot is trying to mimic jazz, so he only pulled off part of it, the notes. i claim it's a very small part. i don't care for free jazz, or john cage. though yes, it is music, and some people enjoy it. i happen to not be one of those people.

no- THIS is a robot noodling. When Ornette hit the scene a lot of people said this is SO jive. Reasons - no sound, no time. Then you ask yourself is free jazz legit? Or think John Cage? Is 4'33 even music? You can't deny that a robot playing Giant Steps is at least an artistic statement. So IS it jazz? Maybe not - maybe it's not supposed to be. With that said... I'd rather not listen to this again.

but this IS jazz.. no one should strive to sound like that. no matter how you look at it. you're a trumpet player (i'm assuming), you should know that feel sound and time are all that's important in jazz. just listen to freddie, lee and clifford. i look at it like they did. i hope.

I don't take offence to a thumbs down. I'm glad that somebody knew enough to thumbs down it. But you can't tell me what I SHOULD think. It has a sound. I would personally work on it if I sounded like that, but some poeple would aim for that sound. And it has really good time, just not in a jazz sence. And well ok - it has no feel. Depends on how you look at it.
