When it was launched, Sesame Street demonstrated that songs & stories for children needn't be bland or patronising, but could be deep & multi-faceted. The lyrics & tunesmithery of songs from its first thirty years testify to this. But nothing lasts forever and it was perhaps inevitable, particularly after Henson's passing in 1990, that the quality & artistry would begin to drop off. Elmo is a one-dimensional sock-puppet devoid of any visual aesthetic, or indeed memorable character traits.

I still question the taste of this. Jim Henson never had this kind of thing on the earlier ones, because other franchses did it. And I think this belongs in another franchise.
