John Lennon was indeed influenced by Delbert's harmonica playing on Bruce Channel's hit "Hey Baby",and although a popular misconception did not teach him to play.

I had a cat named Delbert, I'm such a huge fan.

Interesting bit of trivia: It was Delbert McClinton who taught John Lennon to play the harmonica :)
I'll see if I can find it for u :-)

that is a big joe turner song and delbert does it real justice. it is on several albums and you can just hear the joy in his voice. the song that really knocked me out was his rendition of "please, please, please". he has a very different vibe with all respect to james brown.his version was every bit as good in his own way, lots of soul. his own spin on it. it is on "honky tonk and blues" and other albums. check it out. just proves the point that delbert can do anything.

Delberts voice is like fine wine. He just sounds better every year. This is pretty old, but he's still awesome. I've seen him about 30 times, and went on the Blues Cruise about 13 years ago. That was the best time I ever had. Five days of Delbert, Asleep at the Wheel, Marcia Ball, Jimmy Hall, and many others.
