You can enter cheat mode in either screen. I usually do it while playing on a residential lot. Press all 3 buttons together, Ctrl-Shift-C to open the cheat window. Type in: boolprop testingcheatsenabled true & hit enter. The cheat box vanishes. Then when you mouse over a visiting sim, press Shift+mouseclick and there should be an option that says "make selectable." It makes them controllable, doesn't add them to the family. You can later shift-mouseclick and choose "make unselectable."

hey do you do this in the neighborhood screen or like the playscreen. I tried it and it didn't work. WHAT DID I DO WRONG!?!??

You mean the default players, like the matchmaker lady? You can shift-ctrl-c and type in: boolprop testingcheatsenabled true. Then when you shift-mouseclick on a character, they become selectable and you can control their actions.

LOL, I'm rallying the sympathy vote for poor Mr. Long! In my sims legacy he was desperately in love with my founder's wife, Ivy, who he apparently knew before my founder existed. Anyway, he lived in unrequited love the whole time until she died. I felt a bit bad for him. ;)
