You have to be familiar with the NOVEL "1984", by a man named George Orwell to understand. "1984" was a book that depicted a Massive, ubiqutious, government that constanly monitored its people and destroyed freedom. SOme say the book was more of a warning to the world than a novel. WHen he says that 1776 is the answer to "1984", he's saying the principles of FREEDOM and DEmocracy is the answer to global enslavement. 1776 was of course the year the U.S. declared INDEPENDENCE from Britian.
