smackdown is getting lump of coal from Newt Grinchrinch for Christmas ;-) Oh wait, neocon Newt Gingrich is now an "environmentalist". Or at least he plays one on TV along with Pelosi. Actually, since his "Contract with America" didn't have many accomplishments. He is now a co-author of a "Contract with Earth". He really has reversed his evil, earth hating ways! Miracles do happen!

aReasonableGuy - My point was that Christmas is actually a secular holiday. well despite your objections. christmas is in fact a christian holiday. people of other faiths do not celebrate it. and in fact, i think that many christians would take offense to your assertion. our founding fathers did not want christianity or any faiths polluting our government and that's the way it should stay. sorry. no government sponsored xmas tree for you.

smackrightdown - "you could have the 'nativity scene channel' and i wouldn't give a..." My point was that Christmas is actually a secular holiday, at least the way mainstream America celebrates it.... Just like Halloween. As far as your concern about the government needing to "stay the f**k" out of it, may I remind you that our government is "of the people, by the people." So long as it does not sanction one religion to the exclusion of others, we're OK. Why not live a little & have fun?

Utah State Senator Chris Buttars is attempting to pass a bill to encourage people in his state to say, 'merry christmas'. sir, you are a douche.
smackrightdown (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
aReasonableGuy - You won't see a nativity scene on virtually any Christmas TV special program. i don't care what tv stations air. they are (mostly) private companies and are entitled to act as they see fit. you could have the 'nativity scene channel' and i wouldn't give a rat's ass about it. but our government needs to stay the fuck out and vice versa.
smackrightdown (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
aReasonableGuy - But I bet you don't lobby to keep government agencies from putting up cobweb & spider decorations near the end of October. I don't lobby to keep government agencies about xmas either. but do i think that they should decorate for halloween? no. for precisely the same reason. it's none of their business.
aReasonableGuy (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
You won't see a nativity scene on virtually any Christmas TV special program. Obviously the nativity scene is a symbol of Christianity, as witches, etc are symbols of paganism. But I bet you don't lobby to keep government agencies from putting up cobweb & spider decorations near the end of October.

I think "Smackrightdown" is probably a nigger woman, tell me something- does your lips smack does your mouth water when one mentions the words (CHICKEN) (WATERMELON) (CRACK) (BANANA)????
smackrightdown (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
aReasonableGuy - "Christmas is an AMERICAN tradition, and "progressives" should stop trying to "cleanse" us of it in the name of tolerance." umm. no. Christmas is a Christian tradition. wtf is the nativity scene?
smackrightdown (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
USuperPower- "Christmas is for everyone except liberals. They only celebrate Halloween because the get to dress up like the ghouls they are and receive handouts from every door they knock on." what's the difference between believing in witches and believing in zombies? you do realize that both christmas and halloween are pagan rituals in their origin. halloween was a harvest ritual and christmas was a celebration of the shortest day of the year (thus the lights)
