As he got older, Ashkenazy's playing became more predictable and pedantic. Always though a very accurate and thorough musician.

I am an enormous fan of Vladimir Ashkenazy.He has achieved an amazing amount and is a very deep musician. The sound quality is damaged in this recording, but it is lovely to hear it.I heard Ashkenazy live many times and he was fabulous live.

This is the best Finale I have ever heard. The crescendi are effective, there is unlimited power and the last minute is just fantastic!

What a treasure. Ashkenazy always sounds beautiful, but his older recordings seem to have a bit more of an edge. Great f-ing video!
