I always wonder why they bother to book panelists like this(guess which one I'm referring to).

Hong Kong is the exception that proves the rule. Don't believe me, do some research and see if you can find any industrialized nation that developed according to libertarian philosophy. As for Freddy and Fanny I said that developed countries got that way by mixing markets with government planning. What is shocking about this crisis is that deregulating one aspect of our economy, financial banks, could lead to a domino affect across the US economy and the world. Anti-trust laws need a resurgence

where was the state planning in Hong Kong? How can you call the financial system we have today neo-liberal when you have a Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac with access to the government safety-net and a Federal Reserve in charge of the money supply. One thing that bothers me most about Naomi Klein and like-minded people is that they refuse to understand the system they are attacking, they only want to pick the facts that support their theories.

capitalism or any other ism there is always end up the same. 95% of the population is controlled by the top 5%. Capitalism always leads to corporatism. Just like communism always leads to totalitarian communism. Capitalism is just as bad as communism. If you cannot see that then I will not be the one to educate you.

for some reason i'm pretty sure that's already the name of a movie

Great argument! Again, I will try to add a little extra. Capitalism is not evil, but corporatism is evil, or at least unjust.

Your understanding of capitalism and corporatism and every other ism is child like and moronic. please

Klein does plenty of distortion in her book. Her disdain for capitalism has her lying about Milton Friedman in her book. Anyway, capitalism is not evil. It is the exchange of goods (or labor) by choice. Add in competition and the consumer ends up winning. Is it perfect? No. Nothing is. Absolutely nothing. Does it advance us as a species? Absolutely. Most of our innovations and technology (including health related) have come via the motivation to acquire wealth in the process.

Americans were not complicit in the bailout! Sullivan lies! When questioned, 95% of Americans were against it. It was reported that calls into news agencies ranked as many as 1,000 against the bailout per 1 supporter. Having politicians work against the will of the people should not be contrived to mean that the people support this.
