both phelps and thorpe are incredible swimmers no question. but michaelh phelps has the upper advantage over any swimmer in the world. his body was genenticly built for swimming therefor making him the greatest in the world. they are both very hard workers and love the sport, but no swimmer will ever be greater than michale phelps.

Michael Phelps is truly amazing. He is truly incredible and will go down in th books as the best. Ian thorpe is good too but personally hands down not as good as michael phelps. His webbed feet might be part of it lolz but he is just truly a hard worker and obviously has a passion for swimming. And my last name is Thorpe so i'm probably related to Ian Thorpe somehow just like i am to Jim Thorpe hehe. But yup michael phelps is the best and he knows it =]

Gago! I am here to comment on the video above yet you keep posting on this page telling repeatedly of Phelps achievement. Dude, I've heard that thousand times. Give yourself a break. Why don't you go and comment on other Phelps videos where he's the hero. I don't deny Phelps is the current best swimmer, I salute him for that, can search my comment on Phelps videos if you like. And Pls don't compare him to Thorpe or Spitz. I salute all the champions, I just have favorites though.

You may like thorpe better but Michael is the best ever: 1. 14 golds in olympic history in two olympic games back to back 2. 17 world champs 3. 32 world recors broken so far 4. 7 golds in a single world championship, etc How can you beat those numbers dihay? I respect your liking Thorpe but that's an emotional choice, the logical choice is Phelps.

Are crazy or what? it took a swimmer(phelps) 36 years to break spit'z seven golds. 8 golds will never be broken......The great hacket put it this way:
Phelps' level of achievement can't be described, says Australian distance swimmer Grant Hackett, also considered one of the world's greatest Olympians.
"It's phenomenal and I think, in my opinion, we'll never ever see it again. I just don't think that can be emulated or beaten," Hackett said.
I think Hacket knows more than you moron.

Listen you seem not understand what Phelps has done so far in his career. Phelps has done something that has never been done in olympic history: Winnin' 8 gold medals and breaking 7 world records and one olympic record in his 8 races in Beijin' is something out of this world. You don't know anything about swimmin'. You gotta be insane to deny Phelp's legendary status.

People have different opinions and have their own standards, likes and dislikes. Phelps maybe the best for you but not for me. In that video, who is the best? Ian Thorpe. Wahooo!

Phelps, best swimmer ever? In this generation yes but saying EVER like all time, NO WAY! Nobody can claim that cos that fame is temporary, All WR are temporary. He'll be forgotten just like the other champions because new champions will be born and made. |
